National Initiatives

The Environmental Justice, Climate, and Community Revitalization Program prioritizes and incentivizes projects and initiatives that align environmental investments with priorities and goals identified by environmental justice and Indigenous communities themselves. From addressing public health crisis to creating a safer and accessible outdoor experience, our program convenes and supports a cross-cultural collaborative of organizations and leaders of color across the nation to advance a shared vision and agenda around environmental and climate justice action.

Clean Economy Coalition of Color

The CECC is an alliance of some of the nation’s most insightful Black, Latinx/e, Indigenous, Asian, and Pacific Islander leaders and advocates of color that are committed to amplifying ideas, recommendations, and solutions that uplift the priorities and economic interests of historically marginalized communities, to guide clean energy economy policies and implementation.

COVID-19 Roundtables

Over the spring and summer of 2020, the National Wildlife Federation worked in collaboration with our national and local partners to hold a series of roundtable conversations. The roundtables gathered more than 124 frontline community leaders, elected officials, and other key experts and environmental justice stakeholders to discuss the impacts of the coronavirus on communities.

Creating Safe Spaces

For many Black, Indigenous, people of color and people with disabilities, recreating outside may involve facing microaggressions, harassment, and in many cases, acts of violence. To address disparities and chart a path forward, the National Wildlife Federation (NWF) launched a multi-year Creating Safe Spaces initiative to hear from champions for greater and safer access to the outdoors.
